Melissa Godoy, dba Cinema Sol, is an award-winning Cincinnati-based filmmaker. Over her more than 25 years in production, she's been fortunate to have worked with valued clients, collaborators, and crew locally and nationally. Filmmaking is an art, a business, and a way of life. It's a way of waking up a little more every day.
Godoy is grateful to her mentors and community. Primarily a freelancer, she also assembles teams for productions. She's pursuing completion on a number of independent documentaries.
Godoy graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in Theater and certificate in Creative Writing for the Media. She began work professionally in Chicago, both in theatre and media. These two strands continue to interplay in her work.
In addition to professional media production, Godoy is also a Residency Artist with the Ohio Arts Council's Arts Learning Program. She teaches scriptwriting and short film production at Cincinnati State and intro to screenwriting and documentary production at the University of Cincinnati.
She is a founding member and on the board of Women in Film Cincinnati.
